Emmeline de Vance
Sword-maiden of Caché Creux, Ivraie Vivace
Blacksmith and Armourer Extraordinaire; Faithful Squire
13 February; 17 years old
Independent, sassy, and resourceful, Emmeline is certainly a force to be reckoned with. With the death of her mother at childbirth, she was raised by her father, a blacksmith of renowned reputation. Over the years, Emmeline grew from a perceptive (and at times, willful) child into a spirited, intelligent young woman, highly skilled in the art of creating metal alloys for the armour and blades she forged. The harbour of the city made up for Emmeline's lack of any substantial education, for through her conversations and acquaintances with the various merchants that sailed into port, she obtained knowledge on mythology, language, and politics.
Then came the fateful evening that would forever change the course of Emmeline's life, for a knight and his herald made an unexpected visit to her home, who specifically requested the permission of the blacksmith to allow his daughter to serve as the knight's armourer. With the knight's promise that his daughter would be cared for, the blacksmith gave the knight his consent. Needless to say, Emmeline, who had never seen such a magnificent member of the male species and had quickly developed a touch of a fancy for the dashing knight, was more than happy to comply. By then 16 years of age, Emmeline thus began forging for her employer armour and weapons that were light yet strong with her metal alloys. In turn, the knight, who was none other than Sir Caradoc, took Emmeline under his wing and taught her swordsmanship, and eventually made her his loyal squire. She has since then remained by his side as his faithful companion, trusted sidekick, and (when the occasion calls for it, snarky) voice of reason in times of trouble.
