The old gods are immensely powerful but capricious, worshipped by humans but often having a wilful and childish disregard for anything that does not fall in line with their interests and plans, and Evan is no exception (indeed, he is one of the more changeable gods). A god of sexuality, Evan is also linked with fertility, although he is not the primary deity and instead focuses mainly upon sexual pleasure and other aspects of indulgence and liberation such as the drinking of wine and wild frenzies of passion (not necessarily sexual in nature, although many are).
When he physically manifests in the godly realm or the mortal one, Evan straddles the border between youth and man, the innocence-of-face and serenity with which he is often portrayed by certain sects of worshippers contradicted by a knowing manner and a regular air of provocation.
Worship of Evan is highly irregular – although there are formal and mainstream forms of devotion which often mimic the worship that other major gods receive, there are also regional variations and sects which are more specifically devoted to the worship of a sex deity, and indeed it is a certain form of worship whenever private individuals engage in sex acts.
